Penfolds Rawson's Retreat range was launched in 1995 as the brand's 'entry level' selection, to offer consumers Penfolds quality at affordable prices. Named in honour of the company's founder, Dr Christopher Rawson Penfold, Rawson's Retreat is easy drinking and full-flavoured, with drink-now appeal. True to Penfolds' multi-region, multi-vineyard blending policy, Rawson's Retreat is made with premium fruit sourced from a range of South Australian districts. This policy reduces the impact of vintage variation, helping winemakers produce consistent wines year after year. Vintage Conditions: A varied vintage across South Australia illustrated the value of Penfolds' multi-region, multi-vineyard blending policy, as winemakers were able to avoid fruit from areas affected by factors such as unseasonable rain and heat.
Maturation: Three months in old American and French oak.

Tasting Notes:
Bright purple-red colour. Spicy and savoury aromas give way to reveal dark berry, 'summer pudding' fruits. Notes of stewed beetroot and liquorice, with a whiff of oak. Fruit driven yet well structured, with approachable tannins and subtle oak underlay. Hallmark mid-palate richness and a lovely mouthfeel. Satsuma plum flavours laced with four-spice and black pepper. Drink 1-3 years.
