2000 Penfolds Bin 407 Cabernet Sauvignon

A very well made Cabernet, true to the Penfolds style, with its distinctive use of oak and classic firmish Cabernet tannin structure. Matured in French and American oak. Very deep brick red colour with crimson hue. Perfumed nose of cedar, dark chocolate, blackcurrant and violets. On the palate the body weight is more generous than the 1999 vintage but not quite up to the 1998. Flavours of blackcurrant, dark chocolate and spice emerge over an anise background. Excellent balance, with fine, dry and persistent tannin structure. Very long aftertaste of dark chocolate, plum and vanilla.
