A magnificent example of Coonawarra Cabernet
This is the sort of Cabernet that would convert wine lovers away from Shiraz and back to a perfect expression of blackcurrant and cassis flavours. Too many Cabernets have green tea leaf characteristics coupled with unripe tannins. Produced from 100% Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon, the wine was matured matured for over 40 months in predominantly new French oak 225 litre barrels.

It has just been annouced that the 2000 Katnook Estate Odyssey Cabernet Sauvignon has been awarded a trophy & gold medal for the best red wine over 10 pounds at the recent Decanter Wine Awards in London.

This award is on top of the trophy the wine received for the best red vintage wine at the International Wine & Spirit competition.
Tasting Notes: Very deep black crimson colour with brick red hue. Superb nose of violets - quite perfumed, followed by cedar and blackcurrant. The palate displays great complexity, layered with flavours of white pepper, confectionary, cedar, blackcurrant and mocha, followed by nuances of liquorice allsorts on the back palate. Very fine tannins, with exceptionally long aftertaste of mocha, cedar, confectionary and liquorice allsorts. Last Stocks.
