$2040.00 Dozen
ABV: 59%
The tastings for the latest batch of Adelphis were limited to 20ml samples - just enough to paint the picture and recommend, but not enough to retaste and confirm our initial impressions. Generally speaking, they represent another first class selection of young and old malts from one of Scotland's top independent bottlers.

Founded in 1798 and now owned by Diageo, Blair Athol is a key component in Bell's blended whisky, and is also normally available in a 12 year old bottling. The distillery is located near Pitlochry in Perthshire.

Tasting note: Presents a very pale gold / straw and big cocoa and vanilla notes on initial inspection. There's a gentle nose prickle before the profile turns more fruit and nut chocolate-like. Hints of peat too? Loses some intensity with time in the glass. The palate is immediately assertive, with a mildly bittersweet attack featuring spice, caramel and vanilla flavours. Concludes well balanced with the length carried by the spices. Youthful, big, brawny malt. 60.6% Alc./Vol.
