- Closure: Cork
Zaccagnini was the first winery in Abruzzo to use IL sistema di qualità ISO 9000 when it was introduced. Zaccagnini produces wine from grapes that have no pesticide residues and the level of sulphur in the wine is less than the limits set by biological wines.
The Zaccagnini vineyard is located in Bolognano, in the province of Pescara in Central Italy. The grapes are hand picked and fermented on the skins before being placed half in Slavonian oak barrels and half in Barrique for eight months. The wine is then bottled and left for three months before release. A dry medium-bodied red with deliciously spicy fruit flavours and a velvety smoothness on the palate.
Try With: A perfect accompaniment to any full-flavoured pasta dishes. Try with some cannelloni filled with spinach and ricotta topped with a rich tomato based sauce.
TASTING NOTE : Made from 100% Montepulciano grape. Outstanding colour. Vibrant black purple colour. Lifted Shiraz like nose, with notes of plum, spice and liquorice emerging. On the palate, the flavours of ripe fruit are quite evident with generous plum spice and liquorice flavours to the fore. Fine dry tannin structure, followed by a long plum spice aftertaste.
Cellar 3-4 years (2005-2006)
