Established in 1966, Wolf Blass Wines is one of Australia's most awarded premium winemakers. Since 1973, Wolf Blass wines have amassed more than 3000 trophies and medals at national and international wine shows. The home of Wolf Blass is the Bilyara winery in the Barossa Valley.Select parcels of Chardonnay fruit were sourced from a range of vineyard sites located in South Australia and Victoria. The grapes were harvested in the cool of night to retain the fresh varietal fruit flavours.Following pressing, a portion of the wine received some barrel fermentation to add complexity. Other portions were allowed to undergo malo-lactic fermentation to soften the wine. The wine was blended and some further oak maturation has resulted in the full flavoured wine that is a benchmark Australian style. The colour is a brilliant mid straw with youthful hues. Barrel fermented in a combination of French and American oak, this wine has lovely peach and melon aromas so typical of the variety. The palate has lively Chardonnay fruit, oak flavours and a creamy texture that combine perfectly to give a long, dry finish. This is medium to full-bodied, flavoursome Chardonnay that shows the benefits of deft oak handling. Drink now or cellar 2-3 years. 12.9% alcohol volume.
