Notes sourced from Torbreck.

A blend of 92% Shiraz and 8% Viognier produced from a 5 year old vineyard. Matured for 18 months in French Oak, this wine is directly descended from the RunRig. The Shiraz and Viognier that make the Descendant grow next to each other alongside the winery at Marananga. The Shiraz is crushed on to the Viognier skins that had pressed earlier for the Run Rig and they co-ferment for around a week before pressing and maturing in barriques used only once before for maturing the Run Rig. 14% alcohol volume.

"The 1999 Descendent is a blend of 92% Shiraz and 8% Viognier from a five-year old vineyard. There are 220 cases of this cuvee, which spends 18 months in used French barrels prior to bottling. Its dense purple color is followed by blackberry, creme de cassis, and floral aromas, huge body, terrific fat and glycerin, and a seamless, decadently rich finish. It is a tour de force in pleasure."
