1999 Speri La Roverina Valpolicella Classico Superiore

The Speri Estate dates back to 1850 and is situated in a hilly nook of the Valpolicella Doc. The Valpolicella is made from a blend of 60% Corvina, 20% Rondinella and 20% Molinara. Very deep crimson colour with mauve edges. Lifted nose, very aromatic with aroma of confectionery, marzipan, hints of dusty tobacco leaf, earth and ripe plum. On the palate flavour of ripe plum and stewed fruit, followed by a spice and leather background. Fine grained tannins, perfect balance, followed by aftertaste of stewed fruit and spice. Cellar 2 - 3 years. (2003 - 2004)
