A tighter, more elegant Shiraz than the 1997 and 1998, however, still an impressive wine. Opaque crimson colour, with mauve edge. Aroma of spice, vanilla, violets and blackberry with plum and liquorice end notes. The palate structure is firmer and the voluptuous fruit is more restrained than in previous years. Flavours of vanilla, spice, plum and liquorice are supported by fine grained dry tannins which need time to come together. Long persistent aftertaste of blackpepper and spice. Cellar 4-5 years.
