1999 Salena Estate Shiraz

The 1998 Salena Estate Shiraz was an outstanding result and reflected the 'Barossa' like qualities that the area is capable of producing in a good year. 1999 was not the same. The wine lacks depth and flavour, probably the result of some over cropping.Medium body, deep crimson, brick red colour. Lifted nose, youthful with inky stewed fruit and spice aroma over a background of plum and vanilla. The palate is light, diluted by 1998 standards, with inky stewed fruit and liquorice flavours dominant. Fine grained tannins, followed by an inky spice and liquorice aftertaste. Cellar 2-3 years.
