1999 Ralph Fowler Cabernet Sauvignon

This wine demonstrates that even a Master Winemaker, like Ralph Fowler is after all a 'slave' of nature, and can only produce as good a wine as the season will allow. Made from a blend of 40% Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon, and 60% Mount Benson Cabernet, the wine has spent 14 months in French and American oak casks.Very deep crimson colour with mauve edges. Excellent nose with aroma of cedar, liquorice, blackcurrant and spice. The palate does not follow through and is a touch light. Flavours of blackcurrant, spice and chocolate, but without a great deal of weight. Fine grained soft tannins, well balanced, followed by an aftertaste of spice, blackcurrant, chocolate and cedar. An elegant Ralph Fowler. Cellar 3-4 years.
