The Conti's planted these old Grenache vines in 1948 at their West Swan, Manginup Vineyard. Made from a blend of 70% Grenache and 30% Shiraz. Light weight, crimson, brick red colour. The nose is very earthy, with "Rhone like' animal aroma, followed by a spicy end note. The palate is a touch light, with earth, truffle and raspberry flavour dominant. Warm back palate, with raspberry, plum and spice evident. Fine grained, dry, but balanced tannins which linger, followed by aftertaste of liquorice, raspberry and earth. Cellar 3-4 years.
