New Zealand is emerging as a serious Pinot Noir producer, offering in general more varietal character and flavour than the current vintage from Australia. The Neurdorf Pinot has been grown on north facing slopes between Nelson and Motueka, on gravelly soils.Medium body, crimson mauve colour. Distinct Pinot nose with aroma of stewed fruits, plum, spice and strawberry with subtle stalky end notes. The palate displays persistence and a reasonable degree of complexity. Fine grained soft tannins, followed by long cherry, strawberry and spice aftertaste. Cellar 2-3 years.
