1999 Massoni Red Hill Pinot Noir

The Chardonnay was outstanding, the Pinot a light, dilute style without the Massoni pedigree. Light, brick red colour. Aroma of strawberry and spice with hints of stalks, followed by raspberry, cherry end notes, showing good varietal character. The palate is light in structure and lacks ‘Pinot Noir character!’ Flavours of stewed fruit and rhubarb emerge with hints of spice and a touch of liquorice. Fine grained soft tannins. Cellar 2-3 years.
