One of Maglieri’s greatest achievements has been its incredible success at the world’s most prestigious wine competition, the International Wine Challenge in London. Twice the Maglieri Shiraz has been voted Best Shiraz of the Competition, an extraordinary achievement given the incredible quality and diversity of wines entered. This 100% McLaren Vale wine was made from Shiraz grapes grown on the Maglieri Estate Vineyards in McLaren Flat, Blewitt Springs and Willunga, South Australia. The vines vary in age from 10-20 years. The wine was fermented at 32°C initially, then cooled to around 25°C for the remainder of its weeklong ferment. During ferment the skins are pumped over for several hours, twice a day. After ferment the pressings are kept separate and blended back in with the free-run juice when required. The wine is matured in a combination of new and seasoned American oak hogsheads for 16 months.

The colour of this wine is dark red/black with brilliant crimson hues. Intense aromas of ripe blackberry and plum fruit abound, combining well with floral notes and vanillin oak. The palate carries through with rich, spicy varietal flavours in a full-bodied style, leading to a long, firmly textured/finely-grained finish. This wine brilliantly shows off the combination of this noble variety and its suitability to the premium McLaren Vale region. Cellar up to 9 years. 13.3% alcohol volume.
