Medium body, crimson mauve colour. Appealing nose with aromas of plum, spice, confectionery, vanilla and liquorice. The palate flavours are short. Spice, black pepper and plum flavours dominant. Dry firmish tannins. Short aftertaste.

Retasted July, 2001:
Very deep crimson colour with mauve overtones. The nose is very appealing with aromas of spice, plum, blackberry and black pepper with end notes of earth and liquorice. The palate is flavoursome but a touch dilute at the front, flavours of liquorice, blackberry and spice emerge on the back palate. Fine grained tannins, with an aftertaste of liquorice, spice and toasted oak. Cellar 2-3 years.
