The Kaesler Vineyards were established in 1893 in the Barossa Valley on a sixty acre allotment. Shiraz, Grenache, Mataro and White Hermitage vines were planted. The Stonehorse shiraz is matured in oak which is at least five years old, consequently emphasising the fruit qualities of the wine rather than the oak itself. Cropping levels are around 3 - 3.5 tonnes per acre.
A generous, full bodied Barossa red which has been matured in old oak in order to minimise oak influence. Very deep crimson mauve colour. Aroma of plum, spice and blackpepper. Mouthfilling palate, generous ripe fruit flavours of plum, spice and liquorice. Fine grained, dusty tannins, followed by an aftertaste that is very long and gains intensity to reveal distinct blackpepper character.
