1999 Hastwell & Lightfoot Cabernet Sauvignon

Hastwell & Lightfoot are two vignerons that have set parcels of fruit aside for themselves to market under their own label. We will see an increasing degree of this sort of activity over the next few years as winegrowers endeavour to find a ‘home’ for their grapes. Made from a blend of 86% Cabernet and 14% Cabernet Franc – the duo mention that this is “A wine made for eating”.

Very deep crimson colour, with brick red hue. The nose displays earthy, leather and chocolate notes over a background of plum and spice. On the palate, plum and stewed fruit flavours. Moderate length, fine, firmish tannins, followed by stewed fruits aftertaste.
Cellar 2-3 years (2004-2005).
