Siegersdorf or Emperor’s Village, is the Silesian village where Napoleon rested and re-supplied his army during his retreat from Russia; many years later Silesian migrants used the name for one of their local Barossa Valley parishes, which was subsequently renamed Dorrien during the Great War (1914-1918).The regal and historical name, Siegersdorf was adopted by Hardys’ winemaker Dick Heath in 1966 for his Springton SA, Riesling. Today Hardys Siegersdorf is a stalwart of the Australian wine industry, a consistent medal winner trusted by consumers nationwide. The Clare Valley, arguably Australia’s pre-eminent Riesling producing region, is the principal fruit source for this fine wine. Subsequently great care is taken at all stages of the winemaking process to maximise the fruit characters and to produce an elegant, flavoursome wine. Selected parcels of grapes are gently pressed and cold fermented with specially selected yeasts to ensure the aforementioned style characteristics are achieved.Vibrant hints of green highlight a delicate straw colour. A fresh and lifted nose is dominated by attractive citrus, grapefruit and floral aromas, The youthful yet elegant and well balanced palate is finely structured, generous in varietal flavour with a crisp finish. 12% alcohol volume.
