1999 Hanson Tarra's Block Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon

Ian Hanson has been working for years to produce excellent wines. His tiny winery is located on a 5 acres block in Lower Plenty, where about 4 acres of vines are planted. The main vineyard is located in the Yarra Valley. Hanson is a dentist by training and a very meticulous person, but for years he seems to have missed the mark and produced only ordinary wine from sites that should be producing great wine. The 1999 Tarra’s Block Cabernet is Hanson’s best effort to date and within a bulls roar of being a great wine.
Opaque, brick red colour. Very Bordeaux like nose, with aroma of ripe plums, cedar, spice, violets and blackcurrants, followed by spice and liquorice and dark chocolate aftertaste. Cellar 3-4 years.
