1999 Forest Hill Vineyard Chardonnay

Mount Barker, Western Australia, AUSTRALIA

$179.88 Dozen
Closure: Cork

This wine has all the characteristics of a barrel fermented Chardonnay, and if there are any criticisms of the wine, then one would have to say that it has been made in a style that is too predictable. Matured in new and used French oak casks and kept on lees for 10 months. Bright pale straw colour. The nose displays all the hallmarks of a barrel fermented Chardonnay with strong aroma of butterscotch, biscuit, yeast lees, hazelnut and nectarine end notes. Mouthfilling flavours, but relatively drier than its contemporaries, with melon and nectarine flavours over some bitter almond back palate flavours, and again the presence of butterscotch. Slightly bitter finish, followed by nectarine, toasted oak aftertaste. Cellar 2-3 years.
