A generous Elderton, but without the weight of the 1998. Opaque crimson colour. Aromas of vanilla, spice, plums and ripe blackcurrant with a liquorice background. Full bodied palate with flavours of liquorice, chocolate and spice, excellent balance, fine grained yet firmish tannins, followed by a long spice, plum, blackcurrant and vanilla aftertaste. Cellar 4-5 years.
