1999 Dalrymple Vineyard Chardonnay

This is an outstanding Chardonnay that many will not fully appreciate because of its layers of sophistication which are only seen in Chardonnays at 3 or 4 times the price. If you have had the fortunate pleasure of tasting a Giaconda with its funky match stick character, then you will love this wine. Brilliant straw colour. The nose reveals that distinct French matchstick character, over a complex layer of yeast lees, roast almonds and hazelnut. Superb palate flavours, with excellent concentration. Matchstick, hazelnut, toasted oak and spice fill the mouth and are perfectly matched by crisp acid and exceptionally long aftertaste of toasted oak, yeast lees and almonds. A tasting experience – and an absolute bargain. Cellar 2-3 years. (2003 – 2004)
