Gigondas was given its own appellation status in 1971, before that it was just another village of the Cotes du Rhone appellation. The majority of the appellations production is red wine with Grenache Noir generally being sixty five to eighty percent of the blend with Syrah & Mourvedre making up between fifteen and thirty percent of the blend along with other miscellaneous grape varieties.

Deep brick red colour, with crimson brick red hue. The nose displays some early signs of bottle development with aromas of spice, confectionary, old leather and stewed plum. Quite appealing and edging on being perfumed. The palate flavours are developing, with layers of stewed fruit and confectionary over a spicy blackpepper back palate. Fine firmish tannins but balanced, followed by a long spice, confectionary and blackpepper aftertaste. Cellar 2-3 years (2005-2006).
