1999 Charles Melton Nine Popes

Barossa Valley, South Australia, AUSTRALIA
$39. 99
Bottle
$479.88 Dozen
Closure: Cork

Made from a blend of Grenache, Shiraz and Mataro. Part of the wine was co-fermented, thus adding another level of complexity, whilst individual parcels were also fermented separately.
This wine is lighter than previous vintages of Nine Popes, but none the less has outstanding depth of flavour. Medium body, crimson, brick red colour. Perfumed nose of spice, raspberries, plum and liquorice. The individual grape varieties are difficult to isolate, rather, Charlie creates a new seamless whole, which in spite of its lack of fullness, has outstanding concentration and complexity. Fine grained, dry, firmish tannins, followed by aftertaste of plum pudding, spice and liquorice. Cellar 3 – 4 years.
