Shiraz in Margaret River has always been the second cousin to the Cabernet Sauvignon grape. At Vasse Felix, however, Shiraz has won most of the accolades in wine shows and is the most sought after Vasse Felix wine upon release.The Shiraz vines at Vasse Felix are now 32 ears old and in their prime, producing very intense cherry, spicy wines that are rich in flavour. The wine is vinified gently in rotary fermenters then the fermentation is completed in 100% new American and French oak barriques and matured for a further 15 months.The Vasse Felix now has an unbroken record of trophies at wine shows since 1987. A dark and inky wine with royal purple hues. A well balanced and concentrated Shiraz of considerable elegance. The nose is powerful with dark cherry, spice and chocolate with American oak aromatics. The juicy ripe palate is velvety with no holes and very complete with powdery tannins and intense plummy flavours. This wine is looking very youthful now and deserves cellaring up to 10 years. 14.3% alcohol volume.
