Gippsland is a difficult place to grow Cabernet Sauvignon however, this wine makes a valiant first effort.Deep brick red colour, with edges showing brown hues, a touch worrying, given its only a 1998 wine. Aroma of stewed fruit, confectionery and some premature developed characteristics. On the palate, flavours of spice, liquorice all sorts, chocolate, leather, earth and green back palate flavours. The palate struggles to combat the green flavour overtones with nuances of confectionery and liquorice all sorts, followed by ripe plum and chocolate. There is promise for this young vineyard, but better management regime should be put in place to avoid the green flavour spectrum. Slightly bitter finish. Stewed fruit aftertaste. Cellar 1-2 years.
