1998 Tatachilla Foundation Shiraz

With each 1998 red that is being released, the strength of the vintage is being reinforced as an exceptional vintage, and in our mind, 1998 was the Australian Vintage of the century. The Tatachilla Foundation Shiraz is exceptional. Totally opaque, black crimson colour, with a very deep crimson edge. Magnificent aroma, wonderful ripe fruit notes fill the head in layers of complexity that can only be expressed in great wines. Aroma of toasted oak, liquorice, spice, blackberry, ripe plum and liquorice allsorts. The palate is an explosion of flavour which is enhanced by very strong spice and blackpepper end flavours. No part of the mouth is left wondering about the quality of this wine. Complex layers of toasted oak and blackberry are messed with the blackpepper and liquorice. Perfect balance, fine grained tannins with exceptionally long aftertaste of liquorice, spice, plum and toasted oak. Cellar 8-10 years.
