1998 Redbank Long Paddock Shiraz Cabernet

This wine represents the Commercial end of Redbank, the Long Paddock being a way of saying that the grapes could come from anywhere. Deep crimson colour. Aromas of ripe plum and stewed fruit with a hint of liquorice and plum. The palate is a touch hard with good weight and inky back palate flavours supported by stewed fruit and liquorice. Fine grained tannins, soft acid finish, with a inky liquorice aftertaste. Cellar 1-2 years.

RETASTED 20/06/1999: The Redbank Long Paddock Shiraz Cabernet, is a good early drinking wine. Deep crimson colour. The nose displays aromas of ripe plums and stewed fruit followed by a hint of liquorice and spice. The palate is a little hard with heavily extracted fruit characteristics emerging. Stewed fruit, liquorice and spice flavours dominant followed by a youthful inky back palate. Soft, fine grained tannins with inky liquorice aftertaste.
