1998 Punters Corner Chardonnay

Produced from grapes grown on the V & A Lane Vineyard. This wine has undergone barrel fermentation in 67% new American Oak and 33% new Nevers Oak from Sequin Moreau.Bright straw colour, lifted nose of tropical fruits, butterscotch and spice followed by melon and peach. On the palate the oak is very pronounced, particularly dominant is the spicy American oak, giving the wine a strong oak flavour and subduing much of the fruit. Tropical fruit and peach flavours do finally emerge followed by sufficient acid for the short term and a long vanilla spice aftertaste. Cellar 2-3 years.
