BACKGROUNDThe 1998 Bin 28, like the Bin 128 was part of a stable of experimental wines developed by Max Schubert in 1962. The wine took its name from the Kalimna Vineyard which is located in the Barossa Valley and purchased by the company in 1945. Today the Kalimna vineyard is the source of only a small portion of the fruit for this excellent wine.

VINTAGE CONDITIONSGrowing conditions in South Australia started late due to cool spring weather. An early, very warm summer led to an early vintage, with excellent fruit quality in all regions.

TASTING NOTESAn outstanding wine and exceptional value for money. This is a traditional full bodied ‘Barossa inspired’ Shiraz.Almost opaque in colour. The nose is perfumed with aroma of spice, confectionery, plum and dark chocolate with vanilla and blackpepper end notes. Totally mouthfilling, with excellent depth and concentration of flavour. Excellent oak integration with flavours of plum, blackberry, liquorice, spice and vanilla. Perfect balance, with very long aftertaste of plum, vanilla and spice. One of the all time great Bin 28’s.
