One of the last wines to be released from the greatest vintage of the 20th century, this wine has been well worth the wait. The near perfect growing conditions of the 1998 vintage in Coonawarra produced world class cabernets with spectacular colour & concentration of flavour.
Fruit for this wine was selected from the best Coonawarra vineyards. The grapes were destemmed and crushed to static fermenters in separate vineyard batches. The musts were then fermented at moderate temperatures for periods of up to 13 days to maximise colour, flavour and the structure of the tannins extracted. Upon pressing and clarification, only the pressings wines of suitable texture were returned to the free run wines. Individual vineyard parcels were aged separately in new French oak hogsheads for up to 26 months, and only barrels of the highest standard were selected for the final blend. The wine then had a further 28 months bottle maturation before release.

Tasting Notes: An outstanding example of a Cabernet, with no signs of any bottle aging or loss of colour. Opaque black crimson colour, with deep crimson hue. Superb, perfumed nose, producing a wonderful sniff. Aroma of violets, confectionary, blackcurrant and cassis. The palate does not let the nose down, with flavours of confectionary, chocolates, violet infusions, spiced plum, blackberry, red currents, raspberry and cedar. A delight! The tannins are fine grained, showing excellent balance and a very long aftertaste. A magnificent Cabernet which still shows considerable cellaring potential. Winner of 3 trophies and 11 gold medals.
