1998 Normans Chais Clarendon Cabernet Sauvignon
A delightful wine. Had Normans focussed their efforts on this level of winemaking, they might well still be in business today. Deep crimson brick red colour. Aroma of cedar, confectionary, violets, spice, and blackcurrant – an excellent perfumed sniff. The palate is mouthfilling, and displays real elegance with very impressive length and concentration. Flavours of spice and cinnamon oak are meshed with a layer of blackcurrant, plum, vanilla and spice. Fine grained tannins, followed by an excellent blackcurrant, spice and plum aftertaste.

Very deep crimson colour, with deep crimson hue. The nose has great appeal, with aroma of spice and confectionary, followed by hints of liquorice and mixed berries. On the palate, flavours of spice, blackcurrant, liquorice and blackpepper, with back palate flavours of liquorice and cedar. Fine, firmish dry tannins, with a hint of nutmeg emerging. Very long spice and blackcurrant aftertaste.
