1998 Kaesler Stonehorse Shiraz

A huge wine, with an alcohol content of 15%. This wine has been matured in 5 year old barrels, which has had the effect of adding complexity to the wine without the influence of new oak.Totally opaque black, crimson colour with deep crimson mauve edge. The nose is a touch restrained, but yields aroma of dark chocolate, spice and crushed blackberries with a liquorice end note. Mouthfilling palate, a concentrate of very ripe fruit but missing out on length – none the less, very satisfactory. The very ripe plum flavours are dominant over liquorice and dark chocolate. Fine grained dry tannins, followed by an aftertaste of ripe blackberry and liquorice. Cellar 3-4 years.
