Notes sourced from Mildara Blass.
Jamiesons Run is named after the original property where Mildara Wines was established in 1888 by the Chaffey brothers. Jamiesons Run wines have an envious reputation for quality and reliability. The Jamiesons Run Chardonnay was first released in 1989 and proved an instant success, receiving praise from both the consumer and the wine media. The fruit to produce this wine was sourced from Mildara's own vineyards in the Coonawarra, Barossa Valley and McLaren Vale regions in South Australia. These regions are renowned for the rich Chardonnay fruit they produce. The majority of the wine was fermented in new French and American oak casks under temperature controlled conditions for a period of 6 months. A portion of the wine (30%) underwent malo-lactic fermentation to soften the wine. The barrel fermented portion of the wine had extended lees contact to add complexity. The bouquet of the 1998 Jamiesons Run Chardonnay is reminiscent of fresh peaches and figs. The palate offers more of the same rich and full flavours. Oak maturation and malo-lactic fermentation characters add complexity to the palate complementing the fruit characters to ensure a well balanced result. The lasting impression is a complex, full flavoured wine with a soft, crisp and dry finish. Cellar 2-4 years. 13.2% alcohol volume.
