- Closure: Cork
Notes sourced from Enoteca Sileno
Grape: 100% Pinot Nero
Region: The single vineyard of Barthenau San Urbano in the north eastern region of Alto Adige. This vineyard has vines that are over fifty years old.
Production: Careful planning and thought has always been employed since the birth of this wine. The prestigious Cru vineyard has unanimously been judged by world experts as an internationally renowned wine. The grapes are carefully handpicked before going through two distinct phases. 75% of the grapes are pressed and 25% remain intact and are fermented in tanks. After this the wine is placed in small French oak casks for a period of one year. Then for a final year in large Slovenian oak casks. The wine will then spend a further year in the cellar before release.
Characteristics: This is a superior wine showing very well the distinct character of the San Urbano Pinot Nero. The colour is ruby garnet with a deep and concentrated perfume. The aromas of wild berries and cocoa are evident as the wine opens up in the glass. The fruit is very well integrated with the oak and continues with an elegant rich and tasty palate. This wine is full of body, power and in excellent concentration.
Serve: at room temperature
Try With: Meat dishes, roasts and tasty cheese.
