1998 Guelbenzu Lautus

An absolute world class wine – and an eye opener as to what Spain is capable of producing. Made from a blend of 50% Tempranillo, 30% Merlot, 10% Ganarcha and 10% Grenache.Very deep crimson brick red colour. Superb toasted nose, with aroma of spice, blackcurrant, oak, tar and cinnamon. The palate displays layers of complexity – outstanding mouthfeel, with dominant flavours of spice, blackpepper, cinnamon and toasted oak. Outstanding length and depth. Velvet smooth tannins followed by exceptionally long aftertaste of spice, cinnamon and blackpepper. Cellar 3 – 4 years. (2004 – 2005)
