1998 Coriole Lloyd Sangiovese Cabernet

McLaren Vale, South Australia, AUSTRALIA
$43. 99

$527.88 Dozen
Closure: Cork

Coriole was one of the very early advocates of the Sangiovese grape, with vines planted in 1985. This is a serious wine that overcomes the traditional colour problem that the varietal can have, by the incorporation of 18% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% Merlot. It’s an excellent attempt to create an Australian Super Tuscan style.Very deep crimson mauve colour. Outstanding nose with aroma of cedar, violets, blackcurrant and confectionary. Mouthfilling palate, intense, concentrated and firm, requiring time to yield. Flavours of confectionary, spice and liquorice are supported by fine grained firm dry tannins. This is the iron fist approach - that will evolve into velvet over the next 8-10 years. Long aftertaste of plum, liquorice and blackcurrant.
