1998 Cockatoo Ridge Reserve Shiraz

Very deep crimson colour, with mauve edges. On the nose the aroma of very ripe fruit, supported by an acceptable hint of volatility. Aroma of stewed plums, spice, ripe cherries, prunes and clove, and embraced by vanillin oak. The palate is relatively straightforward and misses out on complexity and concentration. Flavours of stewed fruit, cherries, a hint of strawberry and dark chocolate are followed by fine grained firmish tannins. Aftertaste of ripe stewed plums, peppers and cloves. Cellar 2-3 years.
