An outstanding shiraz, but a little less opulent than the Brookman Vineyard. Opaque vibrant mauve purple colour. Delightful layered nose of vanilla, blackberry, toasted oak, violets and blackcurrant. The palate is generous, but not quite as complex as the Brookman shiraz, however, give the wine some time. Plum, spice and liquorice flavours are supported by fine grained firmish dry tannins - yet in perfect harmony. A wine with at least 10 - 12 years cellaring potential. Long plum, spice and liquorice aftertaste.

Retasted: 17 march 2000

Totally opaque, black crimson colour with an almost oily viscous cling to the sides of the glass. Brookman Shiraz was concentrated, the Piggott is a super saturated concentrate of blackberry, spice and liquorice. It is inconceivable to imagine how more flavour could be packed into a wine. Totally concentrated palate flavour - its powered like a Kenworth truck charging through the palate at 100km/hr - knockout! Fine grained soft tannin structure, followed by very long spice and liquorice aftertaste. Cellar 10-12 years.
