- Closure: Cork
1998 in Margaret River experienced ideal vintage conditions right through the season until March 10th when over 100mm of rain fell. Mild but humid weather continued, delaying the end of vintage until mid April. Birds also had a damaging effect. Luckily most of the fruit for this blend was picked before the rain and reflected the ideal ripening conditions with bright, fruit driven flavours and full ripeness being achieved.Thirty per cent of the blend was fermented in new French and American oak barrels with the rest in stainless steel tanks. A 50/50 blend of Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc, with some of the juice fermented in new French oak. Inspired by the wines of Graves, the wine displays pale straw colour. Intense, grassy, herbaceous nose - quite uplifted with just a hint of confectionary. The palate is drier than many of its Australian peers, displaying good weight. Intense grassy, herbaceous flavours, with a very pronounced spicy back palate. Excellent length, crisp acidity and long spice, aniseed and herbal aftertaste. Cellar 1-2 years. 13.5% Alcohol Volume.
