- Closure: Cork
Historically, wine makers have competed vigorously to be the first to release their white wines from the current vintage year - nowadays it appears that the race is also on for the reds. The real problem of early release reds is that they have had almost no oak/wood maturation and thus are unable to pick up the resultant complexity and chemical compound transformations that will enable them to develop for an extended period in the bottle - in essence, despite the quality of the fruit, they become early drinkers. This wine is a blend of 70% shiraz and 30% Merlot, with a generous 14% alcohol. Vibrant, purple mauve colour. Young, fresh inky concentrate of blackberry. To taste this wine is literally to taste straight from the barrel. Loaded with primary fruit flavours on the palate, with intense freshly crushed ripe inky blackberry and spice flavour, followed by plum, spice and liquorice all sorts. Fine, firmish, tannins, with long spicy liquorice, inky blackcurrant aftertaste. Cellar 1-2 years.
