1998 Abercorn Shiraz

A wine that left us perplexed with its almost 'sour' medicinal like, stewed fruit flavour components.Very deep opaque, brick red colour. Aroma of stewed fruits, ripe plum and leather, followed by a smoky cedar end note. On the palate the stewed fruit flavour component takes a twist and shows a spoiled super ripe quality that is reminiscent of fruit on the turn. There is also a touch of bitterness on the end palate. Fine grained, firmish tannins, followed by an overripe, medicinal stewed fruit aftertaste. Cellar 2-3 years.
