1997 Coriole Lloyd Reserve Shiraz (1500ml)

Notes sourced from Coriole.Lloyd Reserve Shiraz is Coriole's premium shiraz. The fruit for this wine was sourced from one vineyard adjacent to the winery, planted in 1919. This vineyard produces very low yields of premium fruit with intense varietal character.Production of Lloyd Reserve Shiraz involves fermentation in old open fermenters and hand plunging of the cap. The wine is pressed into both new and old American oak barriques and hogsheads where it is matured for 15 months. The wine is subsequently matured for 18 months in bottle prior to release.Deep ruby/purple red colour. The nose is complex and displays spicy pepper and vanilla characters with floral/violet hints. The palate is rich and full with great structure. Spicy flavours of pepper and nutmeg balanced by well integrated oak coat the palate and linger on the finish. Cellar 10 years.
