1997 Bowen Estate Cabernet Sauvignon

The 1997 Bowen Shiraz and 1997 Cabernet blend are both excellent, however, the 1997 Cabernet Sauvignon suffers from the dreaded vegetal tea leaf syndrome.Opaque brick red colour. Blackcurrant nose with a hint of tea leaf as an end note. The palate has good weight, filled with flavours of ripe plum, chocolate and blackcurrant followed by that haunting undesirable touch of tea leaf that lingers on the back palate and aftertaste. Cellar 5-8 years, the vegetal flavours will be somewhat reduced, but still present.
