Every so often, an extraordinary Pinot Noir is produced from the Concongella Vineyard. The 1997 is very good and displays distinct varietal character. Medium weight. Bright crimson colour. Delicate, spicy strawberry aroma with a trace of California poppy in the background. The palate displays ripe Pinot flavours - almost sweet fruit - ripe dark cherries, strawberry, spice and a hint of liquorice. Velvet smooth tannins - with long spicy cherry spice aftertaste. Cellar 3-4 years.
