1997 Au Bon Climat Pinot Noir

Light to medium body, brick red colour with some tawny edges. The nose is very pronounced and displays strong layers of varietal character. Aroma of stewed fruits, cherries, game and strawberry jam fill the nose. The palate displays excellent length and persistence and totally defies the light weight appearance. Flavours of beetroot, game and stewed fruit. The tannins seem a touch high as is the acidity. Stalky flavours emerge on the end palate and run all the way through to a strong aftertaste of game, earth and strawberry jam. Cellar 3-4 years.
