1996 Woody Nook Gallagher's Choice Cabernet Sauvignon
Neil and Linda Gallagher have been hailed by Winewise magazine as the "Unsung heroes of Margaret River," having won two awards in the Winewise Small Vigneron Awards. The 1997 Woody Nook Sauvignon Blanc and 1995 Woody Nook Gallaghers Choice Cabernet Sauvignon, both won the top award in their class. The bad news is both are now sold out, however, we are more than pleased to offer the 1996 Cabernet.The 1996 Vintage produced firmer wines than 1995 and yet the 1996 Gallaghers choice is still very approachable. Opaque crimson mauve purple colour. The nose displays pronounced aromas of blackcurrant, spice, confectionary and violets to the point of almost being perfumed. The palate is tightly knit with intense blackcurrant, spice, confectionary and vanilla flavours. Fine grained tannins and excellent balance with long confectionary spice aftertaste. Cellar 3 - 8 years.
