More indie expressions of Ben Nevis have been hitting Australian shores in the last couple of years, but this one's from a supplier we've never encountered. "The whisky Agency" is composed of a group of German enthusiasts who select "...whiskies they like to drink themselves - regardless of age, distillery name or cask type & size, ".
The agency has focussed on Swedish and Asian markets, but a small consignment has just arrived in Australia. Much of it is already allocated to the best whisky bars. Malt enthusiasts should keep this label on their radars as the collection offers some fabulous all-natural whiskies from both well-known and underdog distilleries.

Tasting note: Matured in a refill Sherry butt. Pours pale straw gold with thick tears down the sides of the glass. Dense aromas, with malt and stewed orchard fruit sweetness, but not candied. Peppered caramel, plum and kumquat jam in later passes. Gorgeous purity. Follows through with a creamy entry and the middle stages packed with vanilla, toasted cereals, delicate spicy stewed pear and plum flavours. Love the texture on the finish that’s almost chewy. Big, bold, beautiful Ben Nevis. A highlight of the collection. 50.5% Alc./Vol. 360 bottles.
