1996 St. Hallett Old Block Shiraz

The St. Hallett Old Block Shiraz is generally a very full bodied wine with plenty of colour saturation. The 1996 whilst still having good weight, doesn't have the density of past Old Blocks. Opaque crimson mauve colour. Spicy plum, blackberry and vanillin oak nose. Very appealing. On the palate the spicy plum flavours continue with hints of blackpepper on the end palate. Good weight and length, but without great concentration of flavour. Fine grained tannins, excellent balance with plum, vanilla and spice aftertaste. Cellar 5-8 years.
